[Things are still really weird. Sayori doesn't know how she feels about the idea of contacting Monika, but the longer she sits with this knowledge, she more she feels like she should.
She realizes quickly that texting doesn't fray her nerves as badly as the idea of talking to Monika face to face, so...after a while, she bites the bullet.
Though it is not the most eloquent message she has ever sent, that's for sure.]
[ The text does genuinely surprise her. Her gut is to respond right away, but she holds herself back. She really doesn't want to scare Sayori off. After a few minutes she replies again. ]
ok first natsuki is kinda nervous about her roommate so shes staying with me and honoka for a while if u need her and shes normal i dont think she knows anything about the crappy stuff yet but
[Another delay. The typing indicator persists for a few minutes, and then:]
Ah geez... let me guess: is her roommate a boy? She's always had a hard time with being around them.
[ The long wait makes her anxious. So much so she really wishes she could chuck her bracer across the room. But then the text almost makes her heart leap out of her chest. ]
Wait what!? No... that shouldn't be right. I brought the three of you back... she should know you...
[ ... ]
Oh no... oh shit... unless... something went wrong?
[Ah, self-flagellation. Sayori has no idea how to handle that when it is, indeed, actually the person's fault. It takes her a moment to figure out how to respond back.]
well maybe now that were not in the game itll wear off? ill see if anyone knows anything that might be able to help
what should we do until then tho? if natsuki notices its gonna be
I'm not sure but.... Sayori please be careful around her. Yuri might be dangerous. I think mostly to herself, but I'd like to avoid her possibly getting hurt.
[ She pauses to think it over. ]
I'll be honest: I'm not sure what to do about Natsuki right now. Eventually I'd like to talk to them both about everything. For now... let's maybe try to act normal?
yeah i definitely think they should know but not right now idk what i wouldve done if i found out about all that stuff right after i got here
[Of course, she was all alone, so at least Natsuki and Yuri don't have to deal with that part. But showing up here is still scary enough without finding out your world is all fucked up and your friend hurt you.]
im pretty good at pretending to be normal lol so i think i can do that but ill try not to mention u guys to yuri too much
Agreed. Let's just keep it between us for now, and we'll talk about it when the time is right.
[ She's really glad Sayori agrees with her. However, when the right time will be Monika has no idea. ]
I... can't really get into that sorry. I don't want to share too much about Yuri's personal life. But I don't think she'll hurt anyone. I'm mostly worried about her own safety. Okay?
[A carved pumpkin has been left outside of Monika and Crowley's room. It has a pen writing a swirly line carved into it. Some detail has been lost, as this has obviously not been made by an expert pumpkin carver, but they have clearly done their very best.
[ ....Hopefully no one is around to hear Monika's loud sniffling as she takes the pumpkin inside her room with her. The poem is getting pinned to her wall. ]
you can't just NOT say anything about that though? like that's HUGE????? what do you even mean by not ready to talk about it it's not like she forgot YOU
what about the fact "yuri doesn't know who sayori is" is hard to explain????? it sounds to me like you're just trying to cover your own butt monika so what, were you taking bets on how long it would take me to figure it out or something??? did you win? how much money did you get?
[ If it's any consolation, Monika, Natsuki doesn't seem to be connecting the dots re: Monika knowing WHY Yuri is like this -- mostly because she's a lot more focused on how hurt she feels knowing that the others left her out like this, and lashing out is the only way she knows how to communicate that. ]
[While that is an entirely reasonable response and Sayori understands respecting Yuri's privacy, there's still a part of her that feels...uncomfortably prickly as she reads that response.
She types if she might kill herself like i did then i want to know and deletes it. youre not supposed to know either so why do you get to decide that—also deleted. if you did something you should tell me what it is—
Delete. Delete. Delete.]
ok i understand but if theres something that might upset her u should probably tell me that much i dont want her to get hurt either and i dont want to scare her
[ It takes several minutes for her to get a text back. It's clear she's at least been typing the whole time. Just... constantly deleting and rewriting. ]
It wasn't a bet or anything like that. This isn't a game for me. I didn't tell you about Yuri because it is my fault okay? I was hoping I could find a way to fix it before anyone found out.
That's fair. If I'm being honest... I'm a little worried her programming might be messed up from my meddling, and she might be a little obsessive. So maybe don't bring up... you know who.
you know, i might have actually believed that if sayori hadn't figured it out on day 1 but literally the only other person who would have really known or cared was me after that point so, no
[ There's a pause. ]
whatever. have fun making fun of me behind my back i guess
