[Things are still really weird. Sayori doesn't know how she feels about the idea of contacting Monika, but the longer she sits with this knowledge, she more she feels like she should.
She realizes quickly that texting doesn't fray her nerves as badly as the idea of talking to Monika face to face, so...after a while, she bites the bullet.
Though it is not the most eloquent message she has ever sent, that's for sure.]
[ The text does genuinely surprise her. Her gut is to respond right away, but she holds herself back. She really doesn't want to scare Sayori off. After a few minutes she replies again. ]
[A carved pumpkin has been left outside of Monika and Crowley's room. It has a pen writing a swirly line carved into it. Some detail has been lost, as this has obviously not been made by an expert pumpkin carver, but they have clearly done their very best.
[ ....Hopefully no one is around to hear Monika's loud sniffling as she takes the pumpkin inside her room with her. The poem is getting pinned to her wall. ]
[ This is...a bit of an out-of-the-blue message. But, he's been meaning to send it. And after everything that's happened, he feels it's a good idea. To check in. ]
How are you settling in? This is Alex, btw
[ Alex, who forgot to introduce himself......... ]
[ monika will find a handmade ornament of herself and a little notebook with ribbons on it. accompanied is a card from maya with doodles of monika writing poetry and also throwing a video game into the trash!!!! it wishes her a happy candlenights and praises her for working hard at making things better and wishes her happiness ]
[ When Monika returns to her room one afternoon, she'll find a present, wrapped in pink paper. Inside is a very nice notebook and a pen with a star charm attached. There's no name, but she can probably guess who it's from. ]
[ Yeah it's not hard to guess who got her this but... she's surprised! A pleasant surprise of course but getting back to her makes her a little nervous. ]
Natsuki thank you so much for my gift. It's really lovely. I can't wait to use it! I... really appreciate you thinking about me.
[Monika will find a bag of sugar cookies! Way too much sugar was used! They're a toothache in cookie form! Baking sure is harder than it seems! Rose tried!
There's a quick note: Happy Candlenights! I hope the cookies taste okay! - Rose Quartz]
[ There's a book outside Monika's door that she probably finds familiar. It's Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.
Should she open it, there's a small note. I couldn't believe I could actually find this here. That means you probably could too, but I still wanted to give you a little something familiar, but in a good way.
Alex thank you so much for my gift! I actually already have a copy, but I'm glad to have two! It's just another way to share some of my favorite poems!!
[A messily-wrapped box, with Monika's name written directly on the colorful paper. There's a handmade card on top, decorated with stickers and doodles of wintry images like snow, gingerbread men, etc. It's not properly signed, but the signature isn't necessary. On one side of the interior:]
Tall green trees in lights twinkling bright, Sparkling strands of tinsel and snow pure white, The smell of hot cocoa and apple cider too, A very merry Candlenights, from Sayori to you!
[And then on the other side:]
I know you're doing your best to be better. Even if you don't think you deserve to be here, I do. Everyone deserves the chance to be happy. Thank you for believing in me.
[Inside the envelope with the card, on sturdy white stationery dotted with pale blue polka dots, is a poem.
Inside the box is a book of simple piano pieces, a dip pen and a set of high-quality inks (in blue, green, pink, and purple), a dress with a ribbon at the waist, a wooden New New Aspen ornament carved and painted into a silvery spotted bird under a crimson sun, and a braided white cord bracelet with a green writing quill charm.]
[ Boy. There's a lot of waterworks when she gets this!! It's so thoughtful and touching that she's overwhelmed by it. Is this true happiness? Because if so, Monika wants to hold onto this feeling forever.
Later she'll message Sayori. ]
Thank you so much for my gift! Your poem was so lovely. I can tell you've really improved! I loved everything so much; thank you Sayori.
[You receive an ominous little message on your bracer that might have been intended for you? Or it might have been intended for someone else? It’s hard to say. But suddenly there's a "poem" for you to read with no explanation at all.]
Power Unexpected, persuasive Steaming, loading, generating Ever so unlimited King
Vanishing Melting, sinking Missing, dying, popping So amazing when reclaiming Empty
[Sayori has remembered most pertinent things now. Relived the opening of those wounds, as well as the process of trying to stitch them back up. A slow-going process, even before the traumatic amnesia from getting launched into a time-slowed pocket dimension.
A process which has been complicated by the job she had to do with Sans and KV, and the knowledge they uncovered as a result.
It's a little weird, but she doesn't know who else to talk to about this. There are others she's willing to talk to — but only one person who truly understands the choice she's had to make.]
